The ZEVEX Story

We began as an inspiration between three friends. Our idea was to apply our knowledge to improve and save lives through innovative medical products. In 1986, we founded ZEVEX in Salt Lake City, Utah and put our knowledge to work manufacturing custom ultrasonic components for medical devices.

The first years challenged our startup company, yet through commitment to quality and innovation ZEVEX successfully developed new ultrasonic medical sensors and surgical tools, such as air bubble detectors for infusion systems and handpieces for cataract surgery. Building on those early successes, ZEVEX expanded its horizons and soon began contract manufacturing complete electronic medical systems for other companies.

Today, the ZEVEX Applied Technology division produces medical systems and components that touch millions of lives. Some of the world's largest, best known medical companies rely on our engineering, technology and manufacturing capabilities to produce new medical products for today and tomorrow. And to help stay on the cutting edge, ZEVEX continues to seek out emerging technologies, such as our 1998 acquisition of California-based Aborn Electronics Inc. that added optoelectronics to the growing list of ZEVEX core competencies.

In 1995, after a decade of exclusive manufacturing for other companies, ZEVEX turned to developing proprietary products. In 1996, after extensive research and focus group studies, we introduced the award-winning ZEVEX EnteraLite® ambulatory enteral feeding pump. EnteraLite brought unprecedented accuracy and newfound mobility to patients requiring gastrointestinal nutrition. For our first consumer, that meant rollerblading, going to school, and traveling with his family like any normal six-year-old. Now, through product line acquisitions from Nutrition Medical in 1998 and Nestlé USA in 2000, the ZEVEX Therapeutics division offers a broad array of pumps, disposable sets, and accessories for enteral nutrition delivery.

The founding idea of improving and saving lives is embodied in our ever-expanding vision of Technology Transforming Life®.
